The 2007 Detroit Red Wings training camp opened in September at its traditional northern home, Centre Ice Arena in Traverse City, Michigan. General Manager Ken Holland and Head Coach Mike Babcock assembled a massive 68-player roster, blending established superstars with fresh prospects who had just competed in the team's annual rookie tournament. The camp focused intensely on integrating elite free-agent defenseman Brian Rafalski into a blue line already anchored by team captain Nicklas Lidstrom, while solidifying the goaltending tandem of Dominik Hasek and Chris Osgood.
