A veteran is a player who has played over 260 games in the IHL, NHL, AHL, and Top Tier European Clubs, and have turned 25 before July 1st that precedes the season opener (new for 2020-21). AHL rules limit the number of Veterans to a maximum of 5 dressed per game. Each team is also allowed one "Exempt Player" who has played less than 320 games.
