What GRC says: 2018-19 A buzz saw on skates, Shine does everything at full speed, flying around the ice hitting anything in an opposing sweater. Capable of playing anywhere in the lineup and nearly any role, Shine was a staple on the penalty kill and also played much bigger than his size. He has soft hands and is capable of much more offense than he generated in the second half, which was the one area of concern. An unrestricted free agent, Shine remains a responsible role player and could return for another season in GR.
2017-18 A part time player in the first half, Shine used his hustle and speed to force his way into the lineup on a full time basis. He gave the Griffins a little bit of everything and a lot of hard work in his first AHL season, even dropping the gloves when necessary. Like Colin Campbell he seemed to have a knack for creating turnovers and using his speed to turn them into scoring chances, though his ability to convert could still use some work. A great skater, his game is based on acceleration, finding openings and moving the puck up ice. If he returns to the Griffins he would look like a safe bet to improve on his numbers.
Fall 2017 Shine is a speedy smaller forward with great offensive instincts. He was very impressive in a late season audition last year and looked good again in the prospects tournament before dropping a bit during main camp. The hard working winger is capable of making plays at high speed and can take advantage of open ice to burn defenders. If he can get some ice time, he could put up some big numbers offensively and work his way into the top six.
Sping 2016 Stepped into the lineup at the end of his college season and did not miss a beat. Looked like a regular notching 3 assists in 8 games and showing off speed and a nose for the net. Played well enough at both ends of the ice to earn more ice time. Shine was a black ace for the postseason should earn a prominent spot next season, his first as a pro.
Role: Two-way Winger
Projection: AHL 2nd or 3rd line winger
