Best and worst performances of the week...
By Jason Kasiorek

The Griffins dropped three of four games this week, with one of those going to overtime and a shootout. Grand Rapids is feeling the loss of power forward Landon Wilson who was recalled by the parent Dallas Stars (NHL). Another culprit has been shaky goaltending, although first year man Daniel Larsson has shown signs of finding his game. Darren Helm is Griffinscentral's pick as player of the week as he notched a point per game during the four contests, and contributed at both ends of the ice. The speedy forward edged out strong performance from captain Darren Haydar, forward Evan McGrath, and blueliner Garrett Stafford.

This weeks top three plus and minus performances:

Plus
Evan rang up a pair of goals and a pair of assists in two games last week, trying to stake a claim on a regular spot in the lineup. The third year center is in the final year of his contract and is playing for his future.
After a sub-par start to the season, former MVP Haydar has started to find the range again lately. This week he posted four goals and an assist in four games, bring his season total to 16.
Darren fired 14 shots on goal in 4 games last week, scoring two goals and a matching pair of assists. The second year forward has turned in several dominant performances on the season, and just saw a seven game scoring streak end.
Minus
Howard's play has been erratic at best the last week, losing both of his starts and allowing 8 goals on 50 shots. Much more is expected of the all-star netminder.
For the most part, the former NHL enforcer has looked uninterested and uninvolved. If he is not going to be involved at either end of the ice, he should at least be a consistent physical force.
The rookie blueliner's offense has not materialized as fast as hoped, and his troubles in his own end will not endear him to teammates for very long.
