What GRC says: 2010-11: Piche is on the last year of his contract and will be looking to build on his strong second half. He was solid in light duty on the Griffins blueline before returning to the ECHL and putting up some big numbers.
2009-10: Piche lost the battle for the extra defenseman in Grand Rapids, and instead spent most of the season toiling for the Toledo Walleye of the ECHL. He notched a respectable 28 points 46 games and showed that he was capable of quarterbacking a powerplay. His defensive game improved throughout the season, and the only thing holding him back from regular employment in the AHL is the glut of blueliners ahead of him. Summer 2009: Piche is a Wings prototypical puck moving defenseman. He didn't really explode offensively until his overage year in junior, leaving some question as to whether he will be the next Danny Groulx or a legitmate prospect. If he can adjust to the pace of the pro game, he should get a lot of time with the man advantage, allowing him to rack up the points. |
