#25 Calle Jarnkrok
Pos: Center
D.O.B.: 9/25/91
From: Gavle, Sweden
Height: 6'
Weight: 176
Shoots: Right
Drafted: 2nd round 51st overall 2010 draft by Detroit Red Wings
Acquired: Re-assigned from Brynas (SEL)
Personal:
Plus: Shifty, creative playmaker... Good - not great skater... Outstanding hockey sense... Extremely skilled with quick, soft hands... Can play the point on the powerplay...
Minus: Slight size, needs to get stronger...
Organizational Comments: "He's a very good prospect, he's just got to get stronger. He's competitive, both offensively and defensively, He has good hands, hockey sense." Ken Holland - Wings General Manager
What GRC says: 2012-13: The skilled centerman had a 9 nine game audition in Grand Rapids down the stretch and was underwhelming to put it mildly. It took him a few games to get up to speed in North American hockey on the little ice, though he did show some improvement at the end of his stint. He is expected, on paper, to challenge for a slot in Detroit next season, but with their glut of forwards, he is more likely to spend the majority of the year in the AHL.
Spring 2013: Jarnkrok has NHL level talent, but it remains to be seen whether he has the size to back it up. Compared favorably with Wings Captain Henrick Zetterberg, Jarnkrok may have more offensive flair and creativity. He will have a chance to immerse himself in the North American game for 9 games before returning to Sweden.
Role: Playmaking Center
Projection: NHL top six forward
