What GRC says: 2019-20 D'Astous spent most of the season in the ECHL with Toledo, playing a steady two-way role on the Walleye blueline. His strong play eventually earned him a recall to the Griffins where he scored his first goal. The Pandemic shut down his chance to establish a spot in the top six, but he didn't look out of place in his brief audition. He will be in tough to earn a starting role with Griffins due to the sheer number of blueliners likely to be on the AHL roster.
Fall 2019 A smooth skating rearguard, D'Astous was the top defenseman in the QMJHL last season as well as the highest scoring blueliner in the loop. Despite scoring over a point per game, he projects as more of a two-way player than a strictly offensive one. The undrafted D'Astous could turn out to be a diamond in the rough as he has improved steadily each season in Jr Hockey. Slated to start the season in Toledo he could force his way onto the roster with a hot start.
