| 1992 Training Camp Notes |

| The Wings have tentatively invited 77 players to camp. Their are 20 amateurs and 57 professionals. They are made up of 8 netminders, 27 defenseman and 42 forwards. Besides the parent club, players will be placed with one of the three farm clubs, The AHL's Adirondack Red Wings, Fort Wayne Komets (IHL), and the Toledo Storm (ECHL). Seven players were invited to try out, most notably Defenseman Benoit Larose who would become the club's 4th round draft choice in 1993. This camp also marked the return of former 50 goal scorer John Ogrodnick who played for the wings from 1979-87. Other newcomers were future hall of famers Dino Ciccarelli and Mark Howe, both signed as free agents in the offseason, and rookie phenom Dallas Drake who stepped off the campus at Northern Michigan and stole at job at training camp, beginning a long NHL career. |
