| 2023 Training Camp Notes |

| Detroit invited 68 players to its 2023 training camp, made up of 8 goaltenders, 21 defensemen, and 39 forwards. As is common with a team that has missed the playoffs for multiple season, there was a lot of turnover from last seasons roster, keyed by an active Free Agency and trade market. Notable additions in camp are forwards Eric Debrincat, JT Compher, Daniel Sprong, Christian Fischer, and raged Klim Kostin. The blueline featured newcomers Jeff Petry, Justin Holm and Shayne Gostisbehere, while the organization nearly cleaned house between the pipes retaining only Ville Husso while adding James Reimer and Alex Lyon. There is also a large contingent of highly skilled younger players ready to serve notice this fall, led by Elmer Soderblom, Cross Hanas, Carter Mazur and Marko Kasper who all made their North American pro debuts last season. Also in that group is smooth skating Amadeus Lombardi, 1st rnd pick Nate Danielson, Albert Johansson, and Sebastien Cossa. Top prospect Simon Edvinsson would be pushing for NHL duty, but is still out with an injury from the end of last season which will delay his start. In addition to 7 amateur tryouts invited to camp, Detroit has also brought in veteran pro's Arten Anisimov, Michael Hutchinson, and Cam Hillis which should make things interesting.
