Wings Sign Andy Delmore
Veteran Powerplay Quarterback Targeted for Griffins...

The Detroit Red Wings have signed veteran offensive defenseman Andy Delmore to a one year contract. This marks the second go around for Delmore who signed a contract with Detroit in 2005, but was claimed on waivers by Columbus after being assigned to Grand Rapids (AHL). That season he won the AHL's Eddie Shore trophy as top defenseman, posting 72 points and being named an AHL all-star. He is again earmarked for Grand Rapids and should re-energize the Griffins powerplay. Jokingly referred to as A_ny _elmore (as in where's the D), Delmore is a top notch offensive rearguard who is suspect in his own zone. The 32 year old native of Ontario spent the last two seasons in Germany playing in Hamburg after compiling 283 NHL games for four teams since 1998.
