Griffins Get Their Man Teacher Fraser brings passion and experience... By Jason Kasiorek www.griffinscentral.com
The search is over. The Grand Rapids Griffins announced the hiring of Head Coach Curt Fraser today, capping off 5 weeks of speculation as to the identity of the new bench boss. Fraser, a former NHL player and coach, becomes the eighth Head Coach in Griffins history, taking over for the recently fired Mike Stothers. His task will be to display some of the magic he had in Orlando (IHL) and Milwaukee (IHL) where he racked up 281 wins in 6 seasons. Griffins GM Bob McNamara had this to say about Fraser, "He's a passionate guy, and he played that way. He's competitive and resilient, and his teams never quit. He conveys that passion to his players, but he has the ability to teach as well." Fraser will have his work cut out for him trying to improve on last seasonŐs abysmal record with a very young roster of rookie professionals.
