Griffins Underwhelm in Second Straight Lopsided Loss 5-1
Brattstrom-s unforced error leads to collapse...

The visiting Manitoba Moose had their way with the griffins on back-to-back nights this weekend, taking advantage of a disorganized and impotent Griffins team. While the home team has found a lot of ways to lose this season, netminder Victor Brattstrom was the goat tonight. He surrendered a brutal shorthanded goal after wandering out of the net, which underscored 3 goals on 6 shots. Austin Czarnik scored the griffins lone goal his 13th of the season.
First Period
Grand Rapids picked up where they left off yesterday, just a minute into the game, Manitoba in on Brattstrom 2-on-1. Brattstrom picked the shooter and a quick pass across later, Harkins buries it into the empty side of the net for a 1-0 lead. Cole Maier to the box for high=sticking and GR with a powerplay to try and get on the board. L-Esperance in front screening Selminen and trying to tip shots. Steven Kampfer checked into the end boards and the door opened. Kampfer hurt and down for a while. Then they had some trouble getting the door to close and lock again. Kampfer eventually left the ice and went to the room.
Grand Rapids had a good scoring chance, and then a scrum broke out near the net with Shine at the center of it. Jakub Vrana up the gut, split the D and went in on Selminen and tried to freeze him but couldn-t get the shot he wanted. Moose forward in front of Brattstrom with the puck, helped on just a second too long and got his pocket picked. Czarnik rifled a shot from the circle, then picked up his own rebound and fired it again. The puck trickled through Selminen to knot the score at one. Vrana with a long shot up the middle that just about found its way through traffic but hit a body and stayed out. Shots on goal: GR 19 - Man 13.
Second Period
Tyler Spezia in the box early for tripping and GR on the penalty kill. Limoges in the circle snapped a shot that cleanly beat Brattstrom to regain the lead. Czarnik at the edge of the paint tried to jam a shot through Selminen. Elmer Soderblom with a couple of nice chances showing off some great puck control and agility for such a big man. Delayed penalty to Manitoba and Sebrango with a chance. Griffins powerplay, puck cleared down into the Griffins end and Brattstrom came out of the puck to play it. He promptly turned it over and Reichel easily notched a shorthanded goal into the empty net. You could feel this goal suck the wind out of the team-s sails and they sagged noticeably. Griffins can-t get the puck out of their own zone. Another giveaway in the slot for a dangerous Moose scoring chance. Vrana low intensity with a giveaway that Maier put behind Brattstrom to push the score to 4-1. Mercifully the period ended with Brattstrom surrendering 3 goals on 6 shots.

Third Period
Alex Nedeljkovic comes in for Grand Rapids to start the third. Brattstrom clearly pissed off on the bench as he stomps down and sits as far away from the other players as he can. L-Esperance in the middle of a scrum behind the Moose net. Ned out of the net again and fell down but managed to pass the puck out of trouble with his hand. Two Griffins in front of their own net, but the Moose still ended up in all alone with lots of time to set up a play unmolested, scoring an easy powerplay goal by Toninato to set the final score at 5-1. Shots on Goal: GR 7 - Man 9. For the Game: GR 35 - Man 28.
