Amadio Flies to Falcons
Veteran Blueliner traded to Springfield Falcons (AHL)...

With veteran sniper Chris Minard returning to the lineup this week, the Griffins found themselves on the wrong side of the AHL's veteran rule with one too many players over the 260 game threshhold. It was inevitable that one would have to go and today the Grand Rapids Griffins dealt stay at home defenseman Greg "Ammo" Amadio to the Springfield Falcons for gritty winger Mike Thomas. Amadio had lost ground on the crowded Griffins blueline as of late, suiting up for some shifts at forward, and after being ejected from his last game, had not dressed the last three.

Thomas, a 20yr old right winger, is a similar type of player in that he plays a gritty, physical game and is more known for the defensive side of things. He has a goal and three assists in twenty-five games with the Falcons, along with 16 penalty minutes. The move leaves the Griffins with five veterans, forwards Minar, Jamie Johnson and Chris COnner, and blueliners Doug Janik and Garnet Exelby.
